About the Kentucky Suicide Prevention Group (KSPG)
The Kentucky Suicide Prevention Group is made up of more than 100 Kentuckians who have been affected by suicide. We are moms, dads, daughters, sons, brothers, sisters, friends, uncles, aunts, clinicians, mental health advocates and others who have either lost someone close to us, are survivors of attempts or family members of someone close who has attempted. And we are here to put a human face on suicide.
We believe suicide is a preventable public health problem, and we are devoted to help keep our fellow Kentuckians alive. Suicide is a leading cause of death in our state, particularly for our youth and young adults. It’s time we talk about this and unite so other families are spared the lifetime of pain and grief that we know all too well.
Our vision is to lead the Commonwealth in providing and promoting opportunities for all Kentuckians
to become active in the reduction of suicide deaths and attempts.
Our mission is to decrease suicide deaths and attempts in the Commonwealth through
advocacy, education, training and evaluation.
Through hard work and dedication, we will continue to:
- Advocate for suicide prevention efforts
- Develop and implement educational strategies
- Develop and implement marketing and public relations strategies
- Expand community suicide prevention
- Secure funding for continued suicide prevention efforts
